“Don Pyle is probably best known as the drummer in Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet — aka the instrumental surf band behind the twangy Kids In The Hall theme.

But the Toronto native and old-school punk’s résumé also includes stints with the bands Crash Kills Five, Phono-Comb and King Cobb Steelie, along with countless credits as a producer, engineer, and film / TV scorer. Aside from music, he’s also had a life-long love affair with photography, publishing two books — 2011’s Trouble In The Camera Club and 2022’s Shot In A Mirror.

This year, he ups the ante with his third book Rough Description: Love Letters And Ghost Stories From A Life In Music — a fantastic, memoirish collection of essays about Pyle’s career, life, bandmates, friends, adventures, hardships and losses.
